§ 63-1-219. Child guidance programs, community mental health services and community facilities for mentally retarded authorized.

  • The board of county commissioners of any county, or the board of county commissioners of two or more counties jointly, is hereby authorized, at the option and approval of said board or boards, to conduct a child guidance program, and/or community health center and/or community facility for the mentally retarded, separate and apart from or in conjunction with the county department of health, and to request as a part of the county budget an appropriation of not to exceed an amount equal to the net proceeds of a levy of three-fourths (3/4) mill on the dollar valuation of taxable property in the county for such purpose or purposes; and to employ personnel, within the limits of such funds, to conduct such program or programs.  Provided, that any center or facility for mental health services established or maintained hereunder shall first be approved by the State Director of Mental Health on advice of the Board of Mental Health and shall operate under the guidelines of the Oklahoma Mental Health Services Act; and any center or facility for mental retardation services established or maintained hereunder shall first be approved by the Director of the Department of Institutions, Social and Rehabilitative Services on the advice of the Oklahoma Welfare Commission and shall operate under regulations prescribed by the Oklahoma Public Welfare Commission.
